After the defeat of the Imperial Germany and the abdication of the emperor ( Kaiser William II ) gave an opportunity to the political leaders to recast German Polity. 

An Assembly met at Weimar and drafted a brand new constitution for Germany. Its main objective was to make Germany a democracy. 

It provided right to vote to everyone ( adults ) including women.  

However , The Weimar wasn't able to earn the support of the people as the people of Germany though that Germany lost the World war because of the formation of The weimar republic. 

In contrast, The weimar republic signed a very humilating peace treaty with the allies. It was named as 'The Treaty Of Versallies' . 

According to the T & C of this treaty Germany lost its overseas colonies , one - tenth of its population , 75 % of its iron , 13 % of its territories and 26 % of its coal to France , Poland and Denmark . In contrast , Germany was forced to pay a compensation of 6 Billion Euros to the allies. Further in addition The allied powers occupied Rhineland which was rich in resources. 

As a conclusion Germany was left into a deep Crisis. 

The Weimar Republic also passed an article - " ARTICLE 48 " which allowed the president to seize control over the nation anytime. 

The policies of the weimar republic ware so in - stable that no single party could win the elections which created instability in Germany.
