Explanation:

As India is a vast country and cannot be ruled only one central government. So as to rule in India the power between the Central and the States is divided so as to run government smoothly. The division of powers are defined by the constitution and the legislative powers are divided into three lists: union list, state list, concurrent subject and residuary subject representing, respectively, the powers conferred upon the Union government, those conferred upon the State governments and powers shared among them.
