Answer:

The poem 'The Gift of India' by Sarojini Naidu sounds like an appeal made by mother India to the world to remember the contribution of Indian soldiers during World War I. It is surcharged with the emotional outpouring of a mother, reminiscence on how her children fought and died during World War I.

Answer

I like the poem and the reason behind it is that this poem "The Gift of India" is a elegy full of emotions and moral written beautifully by Sarojini Naidu and the readers could easily understand the purpose of the poem and the message that the poetess wants to convey. I like the poem as it is an antiwar poem and it gives a message of pacifism. The universality of this poem makes us to appreciate it and the universality is that all war would result in destruction and damage to both flora and fauna .The poetess tells the futility of war in which the situation of the soldiers is very pathetic and poignant and the places after war is too much terrible to see, thousands of dead bodies lay rotting in the sun. The poem shows the grief and sadness of all those mothers who lost their sons due to the wars which spread only hatred. The poem also emphasizes to remeber the martyred soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of others. It also gives a message to establish a better world with no hatred on the very foundation of love and peace. This poem makes the readers to deeply understand the futility of war and to respect the soldiers and that is the reason which makes me love this poem from the bottom of my heart.
