Young herbaceous plants remain upright due to preserved water in plant cells that is turbidity.

  • Turbidity may be defined as a condition in which water gets stored inside a cell it becomes swollen. where the cell's membrane pushes against each other creating turgor pressure.
  • A plant cell absorbs a water cell which remains within the cell and the thickness and rigidity of the cell wall do not allow the pressure created due to absorbed water to get released.
  • This rigidity in the plant cell due to trapped water in the plant cell makes the stem of the young herbaceous plants remain to stand upright.
  • The young herbaceous remains straight since it absorbs a lot of water on a daily basis that retains its turgidity.
