WHAT MAKES AN ELECTION DEMOCRATIC??
ANS--
There are certain conditions which make an election democratic.
These are as follows
(i) Election must be held regularly every five years.
(ii) Every eligible voter must have one vote with equal value.
(iii) There should be more than one party so that voters can , get some real choice.
(iv) Elections should be conducted in a free and fair manner and people should have foil freedom to vote for any candidate they like.
WHAT IS ROLE OF ELECTION COMMISSION?

The Election Commission of India is an independent and a powerful body.
It has power to implement code of conduct and punish any party who violates it.
Government offcials on election duty, work under its control.
Election commission can order government to follow some guidelines to prevent undue misuse of governmental powers during elections.
In this way the Election Commission of India regulate campaigns of political parties and candidates to ensure fair and equal chances to compete in the elections.

1)Election being democratic means that people are able to freely and without coercion can vote for their candidate of their choice and the result of the election results in the candidate with the most votes or the candidates with most votes in a fair proportional representation are awarded their offices.This makes an election democratic.
The following points are the base of a democratic goveenment
.There has to be more than one political party taking part in the election.
.The ballot paper lists all candidates and their party names or symbols.
.The election is supervised either by a neutral Organisation, overseas observe.
.Polling stations must be guarded by the police or a non political army.
. Ballot papers are counted in public to prevent fraud or ballot ringing.
.All candidates and parties must accept the result.
.Any attempt to interfere with or commit raudulent behaviour in the conduct of election should be treated as a major crime.
