Because it means that many of ourmost unpleasant, traumatic memoriesare also the clearest. When you say “stick” you probably mean that thesememories are easier to recall. The more associations with a particular memory, the more threads that lead to it, means a better chance of finding it and recalling it.

it is because the memory which you are able to recall easier is the result of storing the memory in your permanent memory cortex and the memories which are not able to be recalled easily is because it is stored in temporary memory cortex
