the equatorial regions receive direct heat of the sun. the rate of evaporation is very high. the warm air molecules holding water vapour being lighter rises upwards. in the higher altitude the water vapour condensed to water droplets and form clouds.

due to the latent heat (heat passes into water vapour in a hidden form) and condensation, the sky of equatorial region often remains overcast with clouds.
