Answer:

These factors makes India a Federal country:

1) Division of Powers: The powers are equally divided amongst the Union and State Governments, and the Panchayats and Municipalities.

2) Equal rights: By no means can any body of the Government (Union, State or Panchayats) gain control over the whole country. The Judiciary (Supreme Court specifically) makes sure that all of them abide by the Constitution, and nobody gets control of the other, to maintain the functioning of the Government, signifying Federalism.

3) Equal share of revenues: It is said that the Union and the State must have adequate amount of resources to discharge their duties. The Constitution makes sure that every one of them gets equal shares of revenues, again signifying Federalism.

4) Right of participation: The States of India have been given the right to participate in the functioning of the Government, meaning, the States are represented in the Parliament, showing Federalism.

5) Vast Diversity of India: Federalism is needed in a country like India to avoid breaking apart of the whole country, and maintain a peaceful functioning of the Government, where everyone's voice could be heard.

Hope this helped.

By the way, in regards to point number 2, the Union actually has slight control over the States (like in the case of Concurrent Lists, where Union Law prevails when there is a disagreement between the State and the Union).
