India has a large population and there are different types of people with different religions so unitary system or dictatorship won't work. Moreover, The Constitution has provided for equal distribution of revenue between both centre and state. State has full rights to function in the government. They both are not separate but have just one common goal I. e. development of the country. India has a bicameral legislature I. e. lok sabha and rajya sabha.
