River is the natural water flow from the mountains towards ocean or sea. It is often described as the flow of water from higher altitude to lower altitude.

The gravity makes river flow. The formation of river is due to melting of glaciers and the collection of heavy rainfall in mountains and hills. The pressure of water is high when it flows from wider to narrow place.

There are two types of forces which makes the river water flow

1. GRAVITY

The flow of water from upstream to downstream is forced by gravity.

2. WIND

In case of water currents and waves ,the wind moves over the water and cause the water to move. Thus water currents are formed.
