Because Shakespeare understood people. What was important to them, what stirred and provoked them to act, what made them laugh and cry. In his plays he taps into our very human nature and evokes reactions from audiences whenever and wherever they are performed. The problems encountered by character’s are still relatable today because they are at their heart human problems. Jealousy in Othello, Ambition in Macbeth, Fun and frollicks in Twelfth Night. These are all things that are as much a part of human life today as they were in Shakespeare’s time.

Many people believe William Shakespeare is the best British writer of all time. His many works are about life, love, death, revenge, grief, jealousy, murder, magic and mystery. He wrote the blockbuster plays of his day - some of his most famous are Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet.
