Data cycle refers to various stages that data goes through.

  • Data Cycle or Data Processing Cycle traces the journey of data since it's collection to the point when it is converted to useful information for users.
  • Data cycle starts with raw data which is then processed through various techniques like storing in tabular form, creating graphs or presentations. In this manner data can be made useful for all departments in an organisation.

Following are the various stages of Data Cycle:

  • Data Collection : It needs to be ensured that the data collected is taken from trustworthy source and subsequent processing will be entirely based on quality of data collected initially.
  • Data preparation : This process is also termed as 'pre-processing' of data herein data is refined by removing errors as well as duplicate values.
  • Data Input : This is actually the first stage wherein the raw data starts taking up the shape of useful information. This data is used as input for CRMs.
  • Data Processing : In this stage the input data undergoes various stages of analysis like advertising trends and evaluating customer requirements.
  • Data Output : In this stage the data takes the shape of the final output which is the usable form like graphs and presentations.
  • Data Storage : This is the final stage wherein data is stored appropriately so that it may be used in future as and when required.
