Pepsinogen (inactive pepsin ) is converted to active pepsin by HCl ( hydrochloric acid) present in stomach

Pepsinogen, inactive precursor from the pepsin, is secreted of Chief cell in the stomach.
Pelsinogen in activated by hydrochloric acid (secreted from Parietal cells) because hydrochloric acid provides the necessary acidic environment from which pepsin works best. It is secreted by the pancreas.
