Isotherms are affected by the various air currents which circulate from the oceans into the land.
Due to this reason, in january, the isotherms usually deviate to the north towards the continent.
It is the opposite in case of oceans, where it deviates towards the south. The deviation is brought about by the differences in temperature produced due to the oceanic air currents.
