A candle has three different zones:

  1. innermost zone ---- dark or black in colour
  2. middle zone -------- luminous zone
  3. outer most zone ------- Non luminous zone
  • Luminous means bright and emits light
  • The yellow colour region which is the bright part of the flame is middle zone of the candle.
  • It is due to partial or incomplete combustion of fuel

Answer:

Explanation:The middle zone of the candle flame is luminous because there is not enough air for complete burning of the wax vapour. The incomplete burning of wax vapour produces carbon particles and carbon monoxide. The unbrunt carbon particles becomes hot and emit yellow light. It is the glow of hot carbon particles which makes the middle zone of a flame luminous.
