I see so much anti-Americanism here that it’s lovely to hear something nice for a change.
I’ve travelled quite a bit around the world and I do think that Americans tend to be more outgoing and friendly than most. Of course there are exceptions on both sides - ugly Americans and friendly people who are not Americans.
I believe part of the reason that Americans are friendly is the same reason that some people are put off by Americans. Because we tend to be self confident. To a person who is insecure, seeing self confidence in another person can be irritating and come across as arrogant. While those are not the same thing, it’s easy to confuse them when one is feeling less than confident and happy in your own situation. If however you are a happy, genuinely confident person, then seeing another such person who is outgoing and friendly is a joy. So I am going to guess that you yourself are a happy person, and that happiness is attracted to other people who are happy with themselves as well.
