Answer is - Thatch made of birch.
During the Neolithic period the people in Burzahom built pit houses by digging into the ground. There were steps leading to the bottom level. The pits had a circular or oval shape. The largest dwelling pit measured 2.74 metres at the top, 4.75 metres at the base and was 3.95 metres deep. There were post holes on the sides of the pits at the surface level. This indicates that there were superstructures covered with thatch made of birch.
