By performing arithmetic operations like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing we can solve an equation.

Given Problem:

What mathematical concept or principle did you apply to come up with the solution to each equation?

Solution:

Solution of an equation:

The solution of an equation is a numerical value for the variables in a given equation. In other words, it can be stated that the value that satisfies the given equation.

Solving an equation:

An equation can be solved by performing arithmetic operations like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

In this method, we can add or subtract the same integer on both sides. Similarly, we can multiply or divide the same integer on both sides.

Here adding or subtracting or multiplying or dividing doesn't change the condition of the equation

Example:

Solve 2(x + 5) = 4x

Multiply 2 with (x + 5) and remove bracket

=> 2x + 10 = 4x

=> 4x = 2x + 10

Subtract -2x from both sides

=> 4x - 2x = 2x - 2x + 10

=> 2x = 10

Divide both sides by 2

=> 2x/2 = 10/2

=> x = 5

∴ The solution of the given equation will be x = 5

Therefore,

By performing arithmetic operations like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing we can solve an equation.
