WHEN A CELL IS PLACED IN:

  1. HYPOTONIC SOLUTION:                                                                          THE CELL SWELLS UP BECAUSE THE CONCENTRATION OF WATER IS MORE IN ITS SURROUNDINGS . AS A RESULT WATER MOVES FROM A REGION OF HIGH CONCENTRATION TO A REGION OF LOW CONCENTRATION THROUGH OSMOSIS { ENDOSMOSIS}
  2. HYPERTONIC SOLUTION:                                                                                   THE CELL WILL SHRINK BECAUSE THE CONCENTRATION OF WATER HERE IS LESS IN ITS SURROUNDINGS. AS A RESUKT WATER MOVES FROM A REGION OF HIGH CONCENTRATION TO A REGION OF LOW CONCENTRATION  THROUGH OSMOSIS {EXOSMOSIS} . FOR EG. THE CELL MEMBRANE GETS DETACHED FROM THE CELL ALL {IN A PLANT CELL} WHEN PLACED IN A HYPERTONIC SOLUTION.
  3. ISOTONIC SOLUTION:                                                                                              THE CELL WIL SHOW NO CHANGE THE CONCENTRATION OF WATER IS BALANCED , INSIDE THE CELL AS WELL AS IN ITS SURROUNDINGS

HOPE THIS HELPS FRIEND , ASK FOR MORE DOUBTS IF NEEDED
