what means pitch scale reading in a screw guage?

Pitch of a screw is defined as the distance moved by the tip of the screw when its cap is turned through one complete revolution. That is, referring to the picture above,turn the thimble by one complete revolution and note by what distance the thimble has moved with respect to the main scale on the barrel or sleeve.
