Good question. Since a fundamental part of what I believe is the “problem” with our (American) currently dysfunctional political system is an almost universal inability to debate political issues, I am considering starting a meetup group whose mission is just that: The debate. What they’re for, how to keep from being emotional, how to listen, how to appreciate, how to discern beliefs from opinions, how to disagree. When we can’t do this, tribes are created and we start thinking we don’t have much in common with our fellow citizens who disagree with us. This is critically dangerous for any democracy including the American one.

Democracy needs an environment of civility and contrast. I will attempt to be open and considerate of opposing opinions while remaining committed to objective truth wherever it exists. I will offer my respect and try to serve as an example to all those who are committed to the above values such as Senator John McCain and others.
