The Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, has introduced in India in the Year 1974, but its real implementation started very late. Many cities & Municipalities in India are still discharging their untreated sewage's into the water bodies causing serious water pollution.

Even though the Authorities are taking measures to prevent Water pollution's from Industries, the actions are insufficient leading to unauthorized discharge of waste water into the fresh water bodies by many units. In many Industrial Units, the treatment plant capacities are either inadequate or not in proper operational conditions.

The Solid waste generated from Municipalities & Industries are also not properly handled in our country leading to the leaching of hazardous & harmful chemicals into the fresh water bodies during rainy season. Most of our sacred rivers are flooded with Plastics & partially burned dead bodies causing serious environmental concern.

In order to curb & control the prevailing water pollution's India, our Governments should create proper infra structure for scientifically handling all the waste generated from house holds. Industries should implement proper wastewater treatment & dump their solid wastes in secured landfills operated by Government approved facilities. In environmental law, the Polluter pays principle is enacted to make the party responsible for producing pollution and are also responsible for paying for the damage done to the natural environment. For the strict Implementation of the above law, the Regulatory Agencies should take strict actions against all violators causing Water, Air & Land Pollution.
