A. Oiling: By oiling or lubricating the surfaces of machines or mechanical parts we can reduce friction.

B. Polishing: Friction can also be reduced by polishing the surfaces in contact with some suitable material.

C. Streamlining: An object flowing in water and moving in air encounters friction from water and air respectively. This kind of friction is reduced by designing ships and aircraft in a particular shape called as streamlined that is narrow in front and broad at the back.

D. Using anti-friction alloys: Friction between moving parts is reduced by lining the moving parts with alloys called anti-friction alloys.

E. Using air cushions: Air cushion greatly reduces friction, allowing the vehicle to glide freely over the smooth surface below.

F. Using ball bearings: It helps to reduce friction between the moving surfaces of a machine.
