➜ Reduction in infant mortality rate involves the protection of children from infection nutrition along with mother and child care. Infant mortality rate has come down from 147 per thousand in 1951 to 63 in 2001.
➜ Improvement in health care, family welfare and nutritional services with special focus on under-privileged segment of population. Death rate have dropped to 8.1 per thousand in 2001 from 25 per thousand in 1951.
➜ Life expectancy has increased to over 64 years in 2000. Increase in longevity of life is an indicator of the good quality of life marked by self-confidence.
