The Wind by Ted Hughes has many interpretations. One could be an existential questioning of the speaker of his self. The poet maybe conveying the power of nature that no matter how hard humans may try to overpower remain unshakeable. A wind results in a complete change of the surroundings of the house, the landscape and the hills, so easily and so quickly that towards the end of the poem, we see the speaker sit with a companion (unknown) in an existential crisis with the wind still soaring around him.
