Irrigation is one of the most important parts of the agriculture, and there are four types of irrigation systems.

And those four methods are,

Surface ,Sprinkler ,Drip/trickle Subsurface.

And about this four methods we should use drip/trickle method in the dry lands with water scarcity.

Because,in this drip method we use pipelines for irrigation which doesn't allow any sort of water wastage.
