The dry mixture of sand and rice grains is sieved to separate them rice having bigger sized grains remains on the sieve whereas sand falls down. Rice and water mixture is a heterogeneous mixture.

  • The mixture of two or more substances where one substance does not mix with another is called a heterogeneous mixture.
  • If we mix rice with water they will not mix and the rice which is heavier than water settled down at the bottom.
  • Thus we can easily separate rice and water from their mixture.
  • So, this mixture is a heterogeneous mixture.
