Three Questions is a story by the well-known Leo Tolstoy. The story is about a king who believes that if he finds the answers to three questions, he would never be defeated or have a setback during his rule. The three questions to which the king seeks answers are:

  1. "What is the right time for any action?"
  2. "Who are the people he should take advice from?"
  3. "How will he know what is right at a particular time?"

The king announces a prize for the one who is able to answer these questions. Many people came up with their notions about this but the king was not satisfied. Hoping to get the answers, he goes to a hermit who teaches him a lesson and also provides an answer to his questions. He tells the king that a person or a decision can never be the most important, it is the situation that requires us to act in a certain way. We should always live in the present and sometimes pay heed to our conscience.
