Heya Friend ✋✋✋
Tommie Smith, John Carlos and Peter Norman are three athletes who won the three prizes of Olympicsheld in Mexico's in 1968.
Tommie Smith and John Carlos who won gold and bronze medal were Afro - Americans. But they recieved their medal wearing black socks without shoes. They had done this to represent Black poverty and to draw international attention to racial discrimination in the United states of America.
To give a support to his mates , Peter Norman, who is a white Australian , wore a human right badge on his shirt at the medal ceremony .
These practices by the triplets responds to social division and social inequality. Two of them were black and other were white , which is racial inequality but they were same in their another identity as a athlete. This also proves every social difference does not lead to social division....
Hope it helps
