Mandela always wanted to be a powerful leader, he would always see the Segregation of black and white people. things like toilets and buses being divided into sections so that black and white were never to mix, black people in South Africa would have to live on the outskirts of Townships rather than the center. The Townships were off limits for blacks, unless that is if you possessed a 'pass'.
Many people stood around a big open fire and set their passes alight, they thought that the idea of having to present a pass each time they visited the Township was absolutely ridiculous. unfortunately this led to hundreds of black people shoved into jail for quite long periods of time.
This is the kind of thing that Nelson Mandela was adamant he could change. Ever since he was little he wittness things he will never be able to forget, it is things like this that motivated Nelson Mandela to become a strong, powerful leader of South Africa.
