Answer:
According to the Greek mythology, there are three sources to know about the Cyclops who were actually one-eyed giants. One of the sources is Homer's "Odyssey".
Odysseus was returning home to his wife Penelope from the great Trojan War and they came across the cyclops, "Thence we sailed on, grieved at heart, and we came to the land of the Cyclopes". As the Cyclops were brutish giants, they ate many of the men of Odysseus' army. Infuriated, he killed Polyohemus, Poseidon's son, the great Cyclop.
The cyclops, as revenge, wanted Odysseus and all his men killed.
