What must be added to 2x^3+3x-5 to get 5x^3-13

let the number be x
x+2x^3+ 3-5 =5x^3-13
=x+2x^3+3x-5=5x^3-13
x =2x^3-5x^3+3x-5+13
x=3x^3+3x+8
is your answer
