2x + 3 should be added to  3x³  + x²  - 22x  + 9 so that resulting polynomial is exactly divisible by 3x² + 7x  - 6

Step-by-step explanation:

                         x - 2

                       ________________

3x² + 7x  - 6  _|  3x³  + x²  - 22x  + 9 |_

                          3x³  + 7x²  - 6x

                         __________________

                                 -6x²  - 16x + 9

                                 -6x² - 14x  + 12

                                 _______________

                                         -2x    - 3

Remainder = -(2x + 3)

Remainder should be subtracted from the number to get exactly divisible

Hence -ve of remainder should be added

-(-(2x + 3)) = 2x + 3

2x + 3 should be added to  3x³  + x²  - 22x  + 9 so that resulting polynomial is exactly divisible by 3x² + 7x  - 6
