Thanks for asking the question!

ANSWER::

Let the added term be x/y

So, 4/9 + x/y = 2/3

x/y = 2/3 - 4/9

x/y = 6-4/9

x/y = 2/9 is the term which when added to 4/9 gives 2/3.

Verification :-

4/9 + 2/9

6/9

2/3

Hope it helps!

To find :

What must be added to each term of 4:9 so that it becomes 2:3?

Solution :

Let them a and b .

Now ,

 \frac{4}{9}  +  \frac{a}{b}  =  \frac{2}{3}  \\  \frac{a}{b}  =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{4}{9}  \\  \frac{a}{b}  =  \frac{6 - 4}{9}  =  \frac{2}{9}
The required numbers are 2 and 9 .
