What must be added to each term of the ratio 3 ˸ 5 so that the new ratio becomes A ˸ B = 5 ˸ 6 ?

Solution :-

Ratio 3:5 can be written as

 \frac{3}{5}

 

Similarly,

Ratio 5:6 can be written as 

 \frac{5}{6}

Let the required no. be x.

So, the equation is_

 =  \geqslant  \frac{3}{5}  + x =  \frac{5}{6}

  =  \geqslant  x =  \frac{5}{6}   - \frac{3}{5}

 =  \geqslant x =  \frac{25 -18 }{30}

 =  \geqslant x =  \frac{7}{30}

So, the required no. to be added

 \frac{7}{30}
