Hey !!

Let X should be subtracted form -5a²b to get -8a²b.

Therefore,

-5a²b - X = -8a²b

-X = -8a²b + 5a²b

-X = -3a²b

X = 3a²b

Hence,

3a²b should be subtracted from -5a²b to get -8a²b.
