Answer:

Have you ever heard the expression, “measure twice, cut once?”

It’s kind of like that. When you make a decision, you are measuring the possible outcomes, understanding the consequences of your actions. Making a decision is often much harder than acting upon it, which is why so many people want to avoid it.

Worse, it’s much easier to criticize other people for their decisions than to make one of your own.

Why is this?

Because making a decision involves weighing options, thinking out the consequences, and then determining that - even against the reality of unpleasant trade-offs - needing to take some course of action because the alternative is more unpleasant. And risk being a target for criticism afterwards.

Taking action is, of course, itself a decision. To act or not to act - that is a decision! (with apologies to Shakespeare).

Not all decisions work out well, of course. Sometimes you have to do the best with the information that you’ve got. But if you have thought through the process and know your reasons for why you made the decision you did, it’s far easier to course-correct.
