If I was to play the role of a mythological creature I would pick the Griffin.

Griffin's are a Greek mythological creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagle's talons as its front feet.

If I were a Griffin I could use my wings to fly high and soar above the highest clouds. The Griffin is also fierce and heroic. The Giffin was thought as an especially powerful and majestic creature. Since classical antiquity, griffins were known for guarding treasures and priceless possessions.
