Let the number to be revealed be "X"

According to Question:

X decreased by 13% = 174

So,

13% of X = 13/100 × X

= 13x/100

Now,

X - 13X/100 = 174

100X - 13X /100 = 174

87X /100 = 174

87X = 174 × 100

X = 174 × 100 / 87

X = 58 ×100 / 29

X = 5800/29
