if 3 is added to 7,it is 10.
7+3=10
if same 3 is added to 5 ,it is 8.
5+3=8
now,. 10:8=5:4
then 3 is the number you wanted..

but from where you get 3 i want to know that
let the required number be X and multiple of the other ratio be Y
we will get 7+X=5Y and 5+X=4Y.....on solving these,we get X=3....and that is the answer
