Solution :-
Let x is be subtracted from each of the numbers 9,16, and 30, so that they are in continued proportion .
so,
→ (9 - x) * (30 - x) = (16 - x)²
→ 270 - 9x - 30x + x² = 256 + x² - 32x
→ 270 - 39x = 256 - 32x
→ 270 - 256 = 39x - 32x
→ 7x = 14
→ x = 2 (Ans.)
Therefore, 2 is subtracted from each of the numbers 9,16, and 30, so that they are in continued proportion .
