\textbf{\huge{ANSWER:}}

Let the number be = x

Therefore:

 \frac{17 - x}{33 - x}  =  \frac{7}{15}  \\  \\  =  > 15(17 - x) = 7(33 - x) \\  \\  =  > 225 - 15x = 231 - 7x \\  \\  =  > 225 - 231 = 15x - 7x \\  \\  =  > 24 = 8x \\  \\  =  > x =  \frac{24}{8}  \\  \\  =  > x = 3
Hope it Helps!! :)

 \mathsf{Here's \: \: the \: \: answer}

Let the given number be assumed as x

Therefore,

According to the given condition,

 \tt{ \frac{17 - x}{33 - x} = \frac{7}{15}}

 \tt {\therefore 15(17 - x) = 7(33 - x)}

 \tt{255 - 15x = 231 - 7x}

 \tt{255 - 231 = - 7x + 15x}

 \tt{24 = 8x}

 \tt {x = 3}

Thus,

The number 3 should be subtracted.

Thanks!!
