What number should be added to both sides of the equation to complete the square? x2 – 6x = 5

 { (\frac{coefficient \: of \: x}{2} )}^{2} \: must \: be \: added \: on \: both \: the \: sides \\ ie \: { (\frac{ 6}{2}) }^{2} = {3}^{2} \: must \: be \: added \: on \: both \: the \: sides
 {x}^{2} - 6x + {3}^{2} = 5 + {3}^{2} \\ {x}^{2} - 6x + 9 = 5 + 9 \\ {(x - 3)}^{2} = 13 = { (\sqrt{13} )}^{2}
