Answer:

\frac{-2}{7} should be subtracted from \frac{-5}{7} to get - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Number to be subtracted = X

Number from which X should be =\frac{-5}{7}

Resulting number = -1

According to the question

\frac{-5}{7} -  X =  -1

Transposing

X =  -1 + \frac{5}{7}

Lcm of 1 and 7 = 7

So,

X = \frac{-7}{7} + \frac{5}{7}

X = \frac{-2}{7}

Check

\frac{-5}{7} -  X =  -1

=\frac{-5}{7} -  \frac{-2}{7} =  -1

=\frac{-7}{7} =  -1

= -1 =  -1

Hence checked
