What number should be subtracted from - 1 so as to get 5/3

let the number to be subtracted be x
according to the question
-1-x=5/3
x=-1-5/3
x=3*-1-5/3
x=-3-5/3
x=-8/3

According to the question : -1 -x = 5/3
-x = 5/3+1
x = -(3+5/3)
x = -8/3
So, -8/3 must be subtracted from -1 so as to get 5/3 as the answer.
