</p><p>Let \: the \: number \: to \: be  \\ \: substracted \: be \: x ,\\  \\  ∴(  \frac{ - 8}{15} ) - x = ( \frac{ - 5}{6} ) \\  \\  ∴\frac{( - 8) -( 15x)}{15} =  ( \frac{ - 5}{6} ) \\  \\∴ ( - 8) - (15x) =  ( \frac{ - 5}{6} ) \times 15 \\  \\  ∴( - 8) - (15x) =  \frac{( - 5) \times 15}{6} \\ \\   ∴( - 8) - (15x) =  \frac{( - 75)}{6}  \\  \\ ∴(- 15x) =  (- 12.5) + 8 \\  \\∴ (- 15x) =  (- 4.5) \\  \\ ∴x =  \frac{( - 4.5)}{ (- 15)}  \\  \\∴ x =  \frac{3}{10 }
