The basic theme of organisation of elements in theperiodic table is to classify the elements in periods and groups according to their properties. This arrangement makes the study of elements and their compounds simple and systematic. In the periodic table, elements with similar properties are placed in the same group.

✔️Before 18th century, only a few elements are known & it was quite east to study their chemical & physical properties.

✔️But with the passage of time, more & more elements were discovered & it was not possible to study & remember each of them individually .

✔️Because many of them have different properties.

✔️So, there arise the need of developing a table or chart in which all the elements can be classified according to similar properties ,so that less confusion can be generated & true information can be generated about the different elements present in periodic table.
