Sir Walter Scott wrote a ballad named “Marmion” in which Lochinvar is the romantic hero. Lochinvar was a valiant knight who reached at his beloved's wedding without any previous notice. His beloved Ellen was to be wedded to “a laggard in love and a dastard in war.” He demands a dance with Ellen before the beginning of the ceremony and while doing the dance he moved out of the door and plunged her on his horse. They went off from everyone to a distant place from where they didn't turn thereafter. He deceived everyone and didn't practice any harmful way of doing so.
