What part do bacteria play in reducing pollution???

Bacteria like Pseudomonas putida helps in petroleum pollution control. These are used during accidental leakage of oil/petroleum products in the water bodies. They are synthesized in the lab and are left in the water body. These kind of bacteria have the enzyme to digest oil without polluting the water.
