The following are the details of the standard deduction prior to Budget 2018:

Salaried Employees Earning-

Annual income from Rs. 75,000 to Rs 5 lakhs - Rs 30000 or 40% of the income, whichever is lower.
Annual income greater than Rs 5 lakhs - Rs 20000
